ENGLISH Students learnt the skill of retelling the story in the Unit-‘Gingerbread Man.’ They made a colourful and vivid picture description of the story-‘Gingerbread Man’ and created Flash Cards during a group task and used them for narration of the story. The concept of ‘Describing Words ’which was already taken up in the month of October was further fostered with the activity ‘Rumble in the Jungle ’which not only brushed up their learning of the concept of Describing Words but also invoked their listening skills. The concept of This/That& These/Those were also introduced. The children had a gala time presenting the puppet show which they learnt during the integration of Dramatics with Verbal Linguistic multiple intelligence. This was done to enhance their Communication and Presentation skills. The class also enjoyed the integration of Visual Arts with English Language as the children made beautiful paper puppets. They understood the difference between analog and digital clock. Students learnt to tell time using the analog clock. During the Math-Science and Art Integration Week, students made an analog clock using paper plates which they used to tell the time in class. They also made a beautiful calendar and learnt how to mark a special day on it. The students performed an activity by using their hands as minute and hour hands to tell the time. The concept of data handling was taught by using picture graphs and how to organize the data. Robotics Unit Topic: FLOATING AND SINKING Activity 4: SAIL OR DROWN AWAY In this session, students studied the effect on the surface area of an object when it is dropped in the water, they explored different ways to make a material float. They also studied about the design process to create a dense but floatable object by investing that a clay ball sinks in water but by increasing the surface area of clay by creating a ship out of the same and observed the difference. Activity 5: Maker session( Sail Boat Challenge - Day 1 & 2) In this session, students recalled the properties of an object which make it sink or float. Introduction to the problem statement- Can they cross a river without using any mode of transport. Students were given the challenge to design and build a boat by recalling all the properties of the object that can float and hold the weight of 5 coins. They first designed the 2D sketch of the boat and listed out the material required to create a boat and then they made a boat and tested in water. Lifeskills “RESPECT” is one of the important soft skills in life skills. To support the better understanding and learning students watched a video. The class discussion was held on what students understand by the word respect. How do they observe it globally? This facilitated them to treat others the way they want others to treat them. Students illustrated on the individual sheet what makes them responsible. Some glimpses of parent walk-in and more.... |
